Verdict from Coachella- ites : “Murs KILLED it!”

Twenty people must have told me that after the Murs performance on Sunday night. 9 pm @ the Mojave tent was where it was at.

MURS trucked it down to Indio on Thursday night with his friends out of Jacksonville, Florida - Whole Wheat Bread. Friday was a long day of getting our lay of the land, meeting Coachella organizers and catching a few shows like Diplo, Busy P (who played his new song featuring MURS) and Jack Johnson.

…Murs and Whole Wheat Bread…

Saturday was just as scorching as the day before. Murs made it up to the BPM mansion or “Smurf Village” for some hang time and we also kicked it with our friends from Skull Candy and Guerilla Union. M.I.A.’s performance was at the top of my list but of course 2nd to PRINCE! Prince performed all of the hits for an hour and a half- with appearances by Morris Day and the Time and covers of Radioheads “Creep” and Sarah Mclachlan’s “In the Arms of an Angel” — a bit random but Prince still has it!

Sunday was the big day! After a morning work - out, we headed to the field to take care of press and set-up.

Around 7 pm - Murs’ surprise guests started to roll in and head to the stage. Sia finished her beautiful performance and the president himself was suited up and ready to go!

He kicked the set off with a few Murs originals and new songs including “Dreadlocks” and “HUSTLE” before bringing out Whole Wheat Bread to add some Florida rock-and-roll to the mix for “You and I” and “Walk Like a Man” and a revamped version of Rob Base’s “It Takes Two”.

After serving up a bit of punk, Murs unzipped his racing suit to “fix up and look sharp” and debuted a white suit before busting out the never-before-performed “Lookin’ Fly” off of the new “Murs for President” album coming this summer! As if there weren’t enough surprises, Murs closed the set down by bringing out the Living Legends for 3 tracks that sent the crowd into a frenzy.

After the performance - friends and family mingled, and then it was time for celebration to toast one of the most eclectic and high-energy sets of the weekend!! Shout outs to Rona, Russ, Talisha, Justin, Kelvin and Sam from the Cashmere Crew who made it out!

Rock the Bells 2008 — Best Lineup yet!

Claremont, California was hip hop central last night. Guerilla Union announced the line-up for this year’s Rock the Bells festival tour at the Hip Kitty - a 140 person venue that was packed with industry cats, hip hop legends and a handful of very lucky fans who made it in the door for the secret myspace show.

DC-ian Wale kicked off the show followed by a tight set by MURS who was followed by Raekwon. De La Soul closed it down with a guest appearance by Phife for “Buddy”.

Ali Shaheed, Supernatural, De La Soul, Jay Electronica, Jarobi, and ALL members of the Pharcyde were also in the building to celebrate the kick-off of the revolutionary Rock the Bells tour- coming to a city near you this summer!

“And there will be surprises. Every night, there’s a chance to see music history,” said Chang Weisberg, the head of Guerilla Union
